What do I need to do to get a septic tank clean?
Call Sludgebusters to arrange a suitable time for us to complete the clean. We can generally be there on the same day you call to clean your tank.
Know the location of your septic tank
Know where your septic tank is located before we arrive. If the lid is buried try and expose the lid by digging the soil off the top – there is no need to lift the lid.If you can’t find the tank, try calling your local municipality, they might have plans in their files showing where the tank is located. We can also give some helpful advice on how you can find you tank.
Access
Our trucks are about the same size as a concrete truck. We need approximately 4 metres of clearance above the truck, so if there are any trees branches hanging above the truck they will need to be trimmed.
We carry 40 metres of hose on the truck. If your septic tank is more that than 40 metres from where the truck will be parked to clean the tank, let us know so we can bring extra hose to complete the clean.
Let us know if there is anything that we need to be aware of (i.e. soft driveway, low power lines, not to let the dog out, dangerous livestock…).
Ask questions
When we are cleaning the septic tank it’s a great opportunity to ask us some questions about your septic system. Feel free to ask questions like, what’s the condition of the tank? How does it operate? How often should it be cleaned?
Have your payment ready
We like to be paid at the completion of a clean. Payments can be made by cash, cheque, credit card or direct credit.
